Ex KTN anchor, Shadique Shaban, has paid an emotional tribute to late Swahili anchor, Ahmed Darwesh, who died on Monday evening after a long battle with diabetes.
Shadique has revealed that at one time, Ahmed shocked everyone in the newsroom after he read a 35 minutes news broad-cast without a script. Apparently, things went south before the news and the whole newsroom was in confusion.
However, Darwesh took charge and read the 35 minutes news bulletin without a script, leaving everybody in shock.

The demise of my friend, brother, mentor and former colleague at KTN Ahmed Darwesh has personified those words and reminded me- and it should remind you- on whose borrowed time we are living.
Television audiences and radio listeners knew and developed a relationship with humble, smiling man with an astute command of the Kiswahili language.
