Fresh details have emerged over why President Uhuru Kenyatta did not attend the funeral of veteran politician, John Keen, in Namanga, Kajiado County.
According to an impeccable source, Uhuru and his Deputy William Ruto were expected to attend the burial to popularise the Jubilee Party but they were conspicuously missing from the event.
The source said Uhuru had even planned for the burial but things went south when he heard that firebrand CORD leader, Raila Odinga, was attending the event.
Uhuru and Raila almost clashed during the burial of former Cabinet Minister William Ole Ntimama in September when Uhuru told Raila Odinga ataendelea kukula nyama, wao wakikula Nyama.
However, Uhuru chose to send Interior Coordination Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Nkaissery, who read his message of condolences.
John Keen, 90, died last week after a long bout of illness.
